Worship at First Baptist |
We at First Baptist believe that worship is a
participatory event. The song service is planned with that in mind and
strives to use both the hymns and gospel songs of our Baptist heritage and
the newer worship music that has revitalized the worship services in the
past few years.
We do use projection technology to allow those who choose to use it to sing
with the freedom this method offers, but hymnals are still available to use
for those who like to read the music and retain the comfort of that
tradition.
Most important to us is the “heart” that is involved as we follow the
Bible‘s encouragement to “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and
spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always
giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord
Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 6:19-20)
Whether singing the great hymns or the new praise and worship songs, we hope
that as we sing that the Lord will fulfill the promise in Psalm 40:3 - “He
put an new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and
fear, and put their trust in the Lord.” |
